UK Phone and Broadband Provider TalkTalk Explored

What is TalkTalk?
TalkTalk is a phone and Broadband Internet service offered by the Carphone Warehouse.
In April 2006, TalkTalk grabbed the headlines by offering a "free broadband for life" offer.
In 2009, TalkTalk acquired Internet firm Tiscali.
What does TalkTalk offer?
TalkTalk offers a combined Broadband and home phone service for £18.48 a month (includes line rental). There are two packages on offer:
TalkTalk Basic 'Essentials' package:
Cost: £18.48 a month (£6.99 plus £11.49 line rental)
- Speeds of up to 24 Meg
- 40 Gig per month download limit
- Free wi-fi router
- Unlimited evening and weekend calls to UK landlines
- Free voicemail
TalkTalk Plus package:
- Speeds of up to 24 Meg
- Unlimited download limit
- Free wi-fi router (the faster 802.11n standard)
- Unlimited UK landlines
- Free voicemail

Free TalkTalk Router
If you order the Essentials package, you're supplied with an 802.11g wireless broadband router. If you go for the more expensive Pro package, you get a free 802.11n wireless broadband router. The "n" router offers faster wi-fi speeds and improved range.
The TalkTalk site is not explicit about while model of router is provided. When one of our team opted for TalkTalk, he was provided with a free D-Link DSL-2640R 802.11g router, pictured below. No guarantee you'll get the same:
