BT unable to send my email
Feb 11th, 2010 at 1:31pm

I migrated to BT on February 5th and since then have had nothing but problems with email.
I wanted to continue to use Outlook Express but BT were unable to cofigure my computer - it will receive but not send - any ideas please??
MOST IMPORTANTLY their Yahoo Page has blocked my emails - because I tried to advise all in my address book of my new email - EVEN BT TECHNICAL CANNOT RESOLVE.
I was advised to send an email to bt-abuse@cc.yahoo-inc.com but have had no reply. ANY HELPFUL ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED

There are three reasons why this may not be working:

1. You have entered the wrong SMTP address
2. Your are not using SMTP Authentication
3. The email address that you have entered as your sender and reply-to address is not the correct xxx@btinternet.com email address

Full details at http://www.filesaveas.com/btbroadband.html#sending

If you need more help, you'll need to provide more details of the problem, including the exact error message you get (with the three digital error code)

occasionally isps will change the ports on email accounts if they have had a spate of spammers

sometimes changing the smtp port from 25 to 465
and the pop(3) port from 110 to 995 will work, but not always try them before phoning tech support

those ports are the secure ports (ssl) for email
