Homebub v2 as second router (wired) with Hubphone
Jan 31st, 2010 at 6:44pm

Hi,

My father in law is interested in the hubphone (I have one) and he would like to move to BT. Due to where they live and the position of the phone line with broadband we would need to have the homehub as the third device e.g.

My in laws live on a farm and broadband is enabled in their office phone which is an old granary it is quite a distance from the house. In the office we have a netgear DG834G and in the house we have a netgear repeater WG602 (using WDS) as the homehub v2 cannot be used as a wireless repeater I am proposing to either wire it into the DG834G in the office so the phone can be used in there or wire it into the WG602 and use the hubphone in the house.

Has anyone tried this or can you think of a reason why this would not work?

Thanks earlyjester

The hub phone cannot be used for landline calls unless it is connected direct to the phoneline, i.e. in your office.

As for using the BB Talk via the hub with the hub set up as a repeater, it is complex and will not work with the V2 hub - see here  http://www.jarviser.co.uk/jarviser/repeaterhubphone.html

..and you are wanting to add an additional wireless link!

So the only way you are going to get this to work is with the hub as the first device, and the phone will then be in your office only for landline and BB Talk - unless it is close enough to the house for the DECT hub phone to connect with the hub from there.
