GrandTec Wi-Fi Pro Camera

My apologies for double posting this, I think I posted in the wrong forum.

Dear All

Newbie here. It seems a lot of you have been having trouble setting this camera up and I need some help too.

I am using this camera with a D-Link 2640T router. Now I know I can't expect detailed help on my particular hardware (unless I'm lucky enough to hear from some kind person who has the same kit) but some general hints would be most appreciated. Most of the principles are somewhat clear to me - just not the details.

The camera works fine on my LAN and communicates wirelessly with the router ok.   All I have to do is type in the IP of the camera in my browser and thar she blows!  (Crappy picture mind you!)

My problem, is connecting to the camera from the WAN side of the router from anywhere else on the internet.

I assume I need to register a DNS host because my ISP assigns a dynamic IP to me and not a static one, and I've done this with dyndns.org (mentioned in both the camera and D-Link manual) but I don't really know what to do with that now I have it ie which fields to fill in or boxes to check on the camera configuration.  Also,  I'm not sure about port forwarding and whether I have to muck about with that.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

the dlink router should have somewhere in it to enter the ddns settings.

look for something like DDNs or Dynamic DNS

as far as port forwarding is concerned, if your camera uses port 80 and it is the only webserver on your network, set port forwarding (port 80) to the ip address of the camera.

you need to make sure the camera uses a static ip address or at least tell the router to issue the same ip address all the time to that device.
