internet on my mobile

can anyone please help me, my son who lives in the uk bought a sony ericesson k8000mobile phone ,when he got a new phone he passed this one on to me ,i live in ireland and put my irish (vodafone)sim card into it ,but can not get the internet on it ,i have contacted vodafone,and been told it can not be done ??? i have broadband internet with bt on my home computer, , can anyone please HELP ME.

I suspect you may have the wrong Internet settings on the phone. I did a quick Google - looks like the vodafone settings are: APN: isp.vodafone.ie username: vodafone Password: vodafone

You'd need to make sure that your phone was using the Irish Internet settings, not the UK Internet settings, as you're using an Irish SIM card. Assuming you're not able to check or change those settings, then I don't think are any other options.
