Connecting PS3 To BT Home Hub
Aug 31st, 2007 at 5:20pm

Hi

I have just purchased my two young boys a PS3, how delighted are they !!

They already have PSP'S which I have configured to the BT Home Hub. No problems or issues there.

My problem is try as I might I cannot get the PS3 to connect with the Hub. I have gone throught the Network settings and scanned for the hub. The PS3 see's the hub and I enter the WEP key, same as I did for the PSP'S. I have left everything else as automatic.

When I test the connect the IP address is never found. What do I need to do in simple terms to correct this. The boys have loads of PS2 games which apparently you need to download a software update to make work.

Kindest Regards

Hi

Thanks very much for the speedy reply. I had already viewed this topic and sadly it doesn't seem to cure the problem.

The PS3 is deffinatley seeing the hub, it finds it no problem. Its when I test the connection that it all goes wrong.
I get an error message unable to find IP address. However it doesn't specify what this address is !!!

Could you direct me further please.

Sorry, can't. - To be honest I think I know what a PS3 is, but that's as far as it goes.

[quote author=Evo-Cop link=1188577225/0#0 date=1188577225]Hi

I have had exactly the same problem with the Home Hub until I managed to solve it yesterday!

During the wireless set-up process you will need to manually input the IP address.  Go thru the normal set-up procedure, after inputting the WEP code you will be prompted to select 'Easy' or 'Custom' settings - go into 'CUSTOM' and input the following IP address - 192.168.1.254 - leave the subnet Mask as is (255.255.255.0) and all the other settings as zeros.
Now go back to the previos screen - left d-pad button - and this time select 'EASY' - you should now be a ble to connect wirelessly.

Good Luck

Setting the IP address to the same as the hub?  Thats a little crazy!

Might be just one of those little black holes that need patched.  I would suggest you hook up the PS3 via Ethernet, and update the firmware that way, then attempt the connection wirelessly, That may do the trick for you!

If the address it's looking for is the server or gateway address then the hub address would be Ok. If it's looking for its own address, then go to the hub manager (bthomehub.home in your browser) going to advanced, config, devices and see if the PS3 is listed with the other devices.  If it is, then make a note of the allocated address and put that into the PS3 manually.  You should also set the hub to always use this address for the PS3 (as it would seem that maybe DHCP isn't working for the PS3) by clicking edit, then set the always use this address option. (Username and P/W both 'admin' to get to advanced)

This is absolutley fantastic flashpants

I did everytthimng that you said and the PS3 is now connected to the Bt Home Hub wirelessly. I'm delighted.
Already my boys are playing on line games and downloading free content off of the net.

Thanks very much for the brilliant advice.

Hey Evo-Cop, what actually happened to resolve the issue?  Was it the Ethernet cable?

The ethernet cable worked. However the previous post about changing the IP address solved it so that I am now totally wireless.

Means that I have no trailing wires about the living room. The wife is hgappier now ! ! !
