ps3 bluetooth help
Aug 19th, 2007 at 11:06am

Hi I have been trying to use bluetooth chat with my ps3 through my bt hub with no success, wireless gaming seems to work fine but the chat does not.
My bleuttoth headset is setup properly and I can here it kick in when I enter a game but can not hear anyone.

Is there a guide to setting up the bt hub with bluetooth chat on the ps3?

Many thanks.

I am guessing that you may need to forward a specific port in the hub for the additional chat info.  There should be info on this on the appropriate PS3 website. I you can find which port to forward, I can help you from there (although there is no guarantee of success!).

OK thanks for helping me out.
This is what I have found on the ps3 site.

For voice / video chat and online game play, direct communication with other PS3™ systems is used for data transmission during voice / video chat and online gaming. The port number used for this is UDP: 3658. However, you may need to use a different port number when  you are connected using a NAT router.

I have a bt home hub and also use norton personal firewall.

Thanks again.

I also found this page, but I am a novice and need to know how to do it with the bt hub.

Thanks.

OK

You access the hub manager by typing bthomehub.home into your browser.  From the homepage, select advanced, continue to advanced, usename and p/w both 'admin', then application sharing, configuration.

From here click the 'click here' in the second paragraph of text to create a new application.  Give it a name and select manual entry of port maps.

Create the port maps as described in the reference you sent. Click ADD to add each range of ports.  When complete click APPLY.  This will save your new application configuration under the name you gave it.  Then in application sharing you can select your new config which should now be listed in the drop down box and apply it to your PS3 which should be one of the devices listed in the device drop down box. Click ADD.

I have not done this myself, so you may have to play with it a bit.  If you make a mistake, you can modify or delete your configuration via the 'modify a game or application' link under 'application sharing'

As your game seems to be basically working without forwarding any additional ports, I would start by just forwarding 3658.

Protocol      Port Range      Translate To ...      Trigger Protocol      Trigger Port

udp              3658

                   to

                  3658               3658                        udp                         3658

would this be right?

Could be.  I can't be sure.  Try it and see.  If it doesn't work, try maybe putting the full port range 0 to 65535.  You can always delete or modify your config if it doesn't work.

Don't forget to assign the config you have made to the PS3 device after you have created it.
