The UK Telecoms forum can be used to discuss telephone and telecoms matters.

Our site concentrates on mobile telecoms (see our mobile forums), but also has content on Caller Display and the Callshield  service. Feel free to talk about these services, and other issues here.

Can anyone explain to me why BT charge £199.91 to install an extension socket to my existing home BT line?

callshield is gone i believe, but you may wish to try an alternative YAC Personal Number

you can set it to send voicemail to email, or have it ring a couple of different numbers

it doesnt cost anything, except to the person calling you, higher rate than normal calls.
